HIGHLIGHTS

 

LIVINGSTON - Travel by boat to this waterfront town, an exuberant melting pot of Garifuna, Afro-Caribbean, Maya and Ladino Caribbean cultures.

RIO DULCE - Explore the verdant labyrinth of inland waterways where Caribbean pirates hid from the Crown and visit the historic Castillo de San Felipe at the entrance to Lake Izabal.

TIKAL NATIONAL PARK - Visit this UNESCO World Heritage site and marvel at iconic temples and plazas that are among the crowning accomplishments of the ancient Maya civilization.

CANDELERIA CAVES - Explore the largest cave system in Central America.  The sacred caverns, the knowledge of which had been lost to the world for hundreds of years, were only recently rediscovered, revealing a treasure trove of Maya artifacts.

CAYE CAULKER AND THE BLUE HOLE - enjoy swimming, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, sailing or scuba diving in Belize.
